I had hoped to get on a roll with cleaning out/eating the contents in one or two shelves of my freezer every week, but that didn’t happen.  Still, I made good progress on the two shelves I wanted to clean out.

When I started this challenge about two weeks ago, my kitchen refrigerator freezer looked like this:

I couldn’t find anything in there.

So, I pulled out all of the items from the bottom two shelves, and this is what I had (the crossed out ones are the things we ate up since I originally posted):

  • 3 popsicles,
  • frozen juice cubes for smoothies (which I won’t be using up because my blender that I bought at a garage sale 20 years ago just bit the dust.  I’m still mourning.),
  • about 1.5 cups of blueberries,
  • 1.5 bags of green peppers
  • 1/2 bag of green beans,
  • 1/2 bag of peas,
  • 1/2 bag of riced cauliflower,
  • 10 homemade turkey sausage,
  • 1 bag of collard greens,
  • few slices of raisin bread,
  • 4 raisin cinnamon bagels,
  • 1 bag lima beans,
  • chicken bones for broth (in the tin foil),
  • 2 burritos,
  • chili from 2015!!!!!! (I wanted to throw that away, but my mom said she’d eat it),
  • 1 pkg. beef jerky,
  • 1/2 bag of chicken broth cubes,
  • 1/2 bag of shredded chicken,
  • granola crumbs,
  • small container of leftover smoothie

I also had frozen bananas mixed in there (about 20 to 25), but I’m in no hurry to eat those.  We’ll use those up for smoothies (whenever I get a new blender), muffins and bread.

Here’s what I have left after our two week challenge:

Here are some of the meals we made with the ingredients:

Lima Bean & Ham Fried Rice (about half of my family like this)

Chicken Pot Pie Filling served over toasted bread heels

and my husband ate up the granola crumbs on yogurt and the kale for his lunch.  We ate the blueberries over crepes.

In the next few weeks, I hope to start up this challenge again.

Are you doing a freezer challenge?  If so, how is it going?
