I’m always looking for quality fiction to read to my girls. Last year, we had the opportunity to review the first two books in The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls series–The Beginning and Race to the Ark. We loved them both.

Recently, we just had the chance to review the next book in the series, Book Three: The Great Escape, and we loved this one just as much. We can’t wait for the next book in the series!
About The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls
Written by M.J. Thomas, who has a bachelor’s degree in Bible studies, these books are written for kids ages 6 to 9 and teach about the stories of the Bible in a fun and adventurous way. Peter and Mary are brother and sister, who, along with their faithful dog, Hank, stay with their great-Uncle Solomon for a month while their parents are travelling. Great Uncle Solomon has scrolls that lead to traveling through time. Peter and Mary travel via the scrolls to the Garden of Eden in the first book and Noah’s Ark in the second book. In this book, they travel to Egypt during the time of the plagues.
In order to return home after each trip, Peter and Mary must solve a phrase. If they can’t solve the phrase, they can’t go home. Luckily, when they get into a tight spot, the Archangel Peter comes to help them out.
Our Thoughts on The Great Escape
The girls loved the third installment of the series, The Great Escape. I had intended to read a chapter a day, but several days a chapter ended in suspense and the girls begged me to read the next chapter, which I did. I enjoy that these stories put the reader right into the center of a Bible story. We’ve all heard the story of the plagues, but it’s quite another thought to feel like you’re right in the time with the Egyptians and seeing how the plagues affect them. Peter is especially nervous when the plague that causes the death of the oldest son comes–he’s the oldest son!
If you’re Christian, I highly recommend these books not only as a fun book to read, but also as a way to teach your children important Bible stories in an engaging way.

Well I love the books of Ruth and Esther so it would be neat to see them in a story.
Cain kills Able will make a great story.

I think it would be awesome to include the book of Genesis. Our children are taught the scientific version which is different from the Bible.

My daughter would love to win this. We would love to see Daniel in the Lion’s Den in the next book.
Well, looking as these are going in order of the Bible, maybe Book 4 should be about the Israelites wandering in the desert. It could also include Joshua and the city of Jericho.
