Last year we learned about The Great Pumpkin through reading Couponing to Disney, and we let the kids keep 10 pieces of Halloween candy, and the rest was left out for The Great Pumpkin. In the morning, each of the kids gets a surprise from The Great Pumpkin in exchange.
Now that two of our kids are dairy intolerant, this is a great tradition. Tonight we went through their Halloween baskets and took all of the candy with dairy to be given to The Great Pumpkin. They got to keep the remaining dairy free candy. In return, tomorrow morning, they will have a dollar or two in their pumpkin compliments of The Great Pumpkin. This helps them not feel deprived of their candy, especially since they get money in return.
