About The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain

It’s 1970, and Carly Sears is a young, pregnant widow. Her husband has recently been killed in Vietnam, and shortly thereafter she receives the devastating news that her baby has a heart defect and likely will not live after birth. Carly mourns both the recent loss of her husband and her last connection to him–their baby daughter.

However, one night, Carly’s brother-in-law, Hunter, pulls her aside and tells her he knows of a way she can fix her baby’s heart. But doing so will take an unbelievable amount of courage. Can Carly take the leap of faith? Is Hunter right? Is there a way for her baby to survive?

My Thoughts

I loved this book, especially because Chamberlain kept throwing unexpected twists into the storyline. Of course, that makes sense because once Carly starts time-traveling, she is at the whim of those who set the controls for her travel.

Carly is a dedicated mother who would do anything for her daughter. In the end, this is a heartbreaking book about the power of love and the pain of loss.

I give The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain 5 out of 5 stars on the Mom’s Plans’ scale.
