UPDATE: The winner is Kim! Congrats!
Do you have trouble stopping at just one dessert? (Who doesn’t, right?)
Do your kids think the bigger the dessert the better?
Do you love the taste of bakery fresh desserts but don’t like the price?
If so, then Christy Beaver and Morgan Greenseth’s new cookbook, Petite Treats, may be just the book for you.
The premise behind this book is that you can make delicious, bakery style desserts at home, AND you can make them in petite sizes for portion control. Plus, they have an added cuteness factor!
We tried several recipes and loved the Banana Blueberry Muffins as well as Espresso Brownies, but truly, all of the recipes look delicious!
Book Features
This book covers many of the sweets people eat, from breakfast muffins to decadent desserts.
The chapter titles are:
Morning Bites
Sweet Snacks
Classic Bites
Fancy Stuff
Frostings, Fillings, Toppings and Drizzles
All told, there are nearly 50 desserts in this book from more basic muffin recipes to much more elaborate ones like Cannoli and Tiraminiscule.
Another lovely feature of this book is that it contains many glossy photos of the desserts. While not every recipe had a picture of the item, there are small pictures throughout the book as well as large pictures of some of the desserts, which is great for eye appeal.
A few recipes also contain healthier alternative ingredients like palm sugar; there are also several vegan recipes.
While overall we loved this book and the recipes, one difficulty we had was that it required some special equipment. A mini muffin pan is a must, and if you’d like to make the adorable mini-donuts, you need a mini donut pan.
If you already have these items or don’t mind buying them, you should have no trouble.
