Thanks to the TOS Crew, the kids and I have had the chance to review some excellent homeschool products. A few weeks ago, we shared our favorite picks from March through July, 2015. This week we’re back with our favorite picks from August through November, 2015.
August was a light month with only two reviews.
My Choice: Illuminating Literature: When Worlds Collide. I reviewed this high school literature product since Bookworm is still a bit young for it. However, I have it tucked away for when Bookworm gets older.
Bookworm’s Choice: No choices for Bookworm this month.
Girls’ Choice: Horizons Kindergarten Health Set. Both girls enjoyed this, and we continued to use this after the review period. I even bought the 6th grade set for Bookworm after this review.
We reviewed five products this month. This month is tough because there were two products I really enjoyed, almost equally. Choices, choices.
My Choice: USAopoly Games. As the kids get older, I want to start a tradition of having family game night. The two games we reviewed for USAopoly were ones the whole family could (and do) enjoy!
Bookworm’s Choice: Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Storybook Life. We read a lot of Little House on the Prairie around here, so Bookworm was glad to learn more about Laura Ingalls Wilder’s real life. The activities in here were fantastic and really brought the learning to life.
Girls’ Choice: Super Teacher Worksheets. Cuddle Bug really enjoyed working on the alphabet sheets, and both girls like the math sheets as well as the seasonal sheets. What a great resource!
This month we reviewed eight products!
My Choice: The Ultimate Homeschool Planner. While I can work with a digital planner, I remain old school and prefer a paper planner. This one worked great for me. I also bought a high school planner in the same series for Bookworm, which he is currently using.
Bookworm’s Choice: Phonetic Zoo Spelling Level B. Bookworm really enjoys IEW products, and Phonetic Zoo was no different. He’s a fairly good speller, but he was bored by our previous spelling program. With Phonetic Zoo, he happily does spelling (without being asked!).
Girls’ Choice: Reading Kingdom. While this program wasn’t a great fit for Cuddle Bug (5.5), PB & J Girl (7) really enjoys it. I’m sure that it is helping her become a better reader. She uses the program 4 to 5 times a week and will continue to do so until our subscription runs out.
Yikes! We had five reviews this month, and we liked almost all of them. It’s so hard to choose!
I’m even considering going back and buying the other two seasons for our long trip to Michigan.
Kids’ Choice: Eat Your U.S. History Homework. My kids like anything having to do with food, and they like history as well, so this was the perfect match. Even with our food intolerances, we were able to make several tasty treats. The kids loved this book!
There you have it! Our homeschool year in review with all of the great products we got to try from the Crew.
