Every night, my husband and I relax right before bed and watch a TV show or movie for about 30 to 45 minutes.  The last few months, we’ve been watching Japanese shows so he can refresh his Japanese (unfortunately, after 20+ years here not speaking Japanese he’s lost a lot of it), and I can be exposed to it.  Most of the shows we could find were romances, but recently we hit the jackpot with the show, Erased, on Netflix.  If you don’t mind watching shows with subtitles, I highly recommend this show about a 29 year old guy who can and does go back in time to try to prevent his mother’s untimely death.  Here are my goals I want to achieve in 2020: week 8 of 52.

Exercise At Least 3,900 Minutes This Year

Accomplished this week!  I exercised 75 minutes this week for a grand total of 314 minutes for the year. I’ve completed 8% of this goal.  I got in most of my exercise in the form of walking at the Tucson Rodeo Parade.  The girls were supposed to be in it on a float for the organization where they go for therapeutic horse back riding, but the horses reared once when waiting to join the parade, so the parade master told the group they couldn’t participate.  The girls were disappointed, but hopefully will have the opportunity next year.

Track on WW Every Day

Accomplished this week. Here’s something fun.  I was convinced that the Green Plan was right for me, but after using it to “correct” my eating habits, so to speak, I’ve switched back to Purple.  I’ll update you more once I have a few more weeks of Purple behind me. Meanwhile, feel free to check out my full day of eating on the Green Plan.

I lost 1 pound this week for a total of 3 pounds lost since restarting WW.

Learn Techniques to Handle, Recognize, and End Emotional Eating

Thanks to a reader’s recommendation, I started reading Made to Crave.  I’m only about 45 pages into it, but I think it will be helpful.  I also received but have not yet used the Made to Crave Devotional so I can remain focused each day.


I have two goals with this.

Read a Passage of the Bible Daily

Just waiting for it to arrive.  Last week, I finally received The Word Among Us, and when I opened it, the entire magazine was empty!  All I received was the cover with no insides!!!  So frustrating after waiting so long.  This just came in the mail yesterday, so finally I can start with this goal!

Attend One Week Day Mass Weekly

Accomplished this week. So this year, we’ve gone to weekly Mass 5/7 times.  I’m happy to report this has now become a regular part of our routine!


My goal next month is to schedule out when I write my posts for both my blog and my freelance jobs so that I’m not rushing at the end of the month.  Meanwhile, not much has been done for these goals because I’m scrambling to complete my end of the month goals.

DONE!!–Have the Site Redesigned and Updated

The new redesign is complete.

Transfer My Email List

Over the years, I have lost access to my email list!  Yikes!  I’ve started a new one, but I’m starting from scratch.  If you were on my previous email list, will you please sign up again?

Update at Least 200 Posts for SEO

No progress.

DONE!!–Delete at Least 100 Irrelevant Posts

I did a little bit more on this and have deleted 620 posts.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is that I’m only on July, 2011.   I still have almost 9 more years to go through!!!!

Read 40 Books

I have completed 9 books so far in January & February, making this goal 22.5% complete.


My Goals I Want to Achieve in 2020: Week 8 of 52

I’ve been hoping to find a good book to dive into, and I have found it!  This week I started The Girl with the Louding Voice, and so far it’s fabulous!

Learn Japanese

Do Duolingo Every Day

I did Duolingo every day this week, putting me on a 108 day streak.

Complete Japanese from Zero Book One

No progress.  Rather than using Japanese from Zero Book One right now, I’ve instead signed up for Mango Languages‘ Japanese course.  There are well over 300 lessons there, and I am just 7 lessons in.  I’m also going to sign the girls up for this.

Reduce Our Grocery Bill

My goal this year is to reduce our grocery bill to $10,000 or $833 a month.

Our final tally for January was $804.74, so I accomplished this goal for January.  I’ve not yet finished tallying February’s totals, but as of last week, we’ve spent $536.06.


Gain Control of My Email

My Google email now has 393 emails———–>down from 5,957 emails at the beginning of the year.  This email is 93.4% completely finished.

No progress on these other nightmare email accounts:

My Yahoo blog email has 93,155 emails.

My Yahoo spam email has 161,328 emails.

My Yahoo personal email has 58, 832 emails.


If all goes as planned, this year will be a big year for travel.

Take a Trip to Michigan

This year, we plan to take another trip to Michigan.  We’ll either go as a family vacation, or we’ll go to help my mom if she has her other hip replaced.  We’re starting to save money for the trip now, but we won’t have any definitive plans until we learn what my mom plans to do.

My 14 Goals I Want to Accomplish in 2020

We have been tentatively planning a trip for May, but this week my husband’s mother called and said she thought we should wait to come because she’s worried about the coronavirus.  Then it’s rainy season in Japan until the end of July, and then at the end of July, there is the Olympics in Japan.  Our son starts school at the beginning of August.  Who knows when we’ll go.  Hopefully we can go in May.

That’s it.  My goals I want to accomplish in 2020: Week 8 of 52.
