Cuddle Bug had a fever for 6 days (sometimes reaching as high as 104), but it broke on Monday morning, and she’s on the mend. No one else is sick (for the first time since Christmas Day!). Per our doctor’s advice, I’ve put the girls on multi-vitamins, fish oil, and a probiotic. Hopefully sickness stays away for at least a few months now. Here are my 16 goals I want to accomplish 2020: Week 3 of 52.
Health
Exercise At Least 3,900 Minutes This Year
I exercised 38 minutes this week with Faithful Workouts and SaraBethYoga. for a grand total of 47 minutes for the year. That means I’m 178 minutes behind schedule. I plan to start catching up this week.
Track on WW Every Day
I did not track at all this week. I think I have some mental issues with weight loss. I’ve successfully lost all my weight a few times, each time using Paleo. However, I’m not doing that this time because I don’t want to eat Paleo for the rest of my life. I think Paleo succeeded because I ate when I was hungry and stopped when I was full. I didn’t track, measure, or limit anything.
While I think WW (Weight Watchers) is a fabulous program, for some reason, it screws with my head. When I start tracking and weighing and measuring, I feel this sense of scarcity, and I just want to EAT.ALL.THE.THINGS! Is anyone else like this?
I’ve come up with a new plan for myself for this week that I’ll share next week, if I feel it will work for me.
I gained 2 pounds this week, bringing my total weight loss for the year to 2 pounds, so I’m 2.2% into my weight loss goal of losing 90 pounds before my 50th birthday in 15 months.
Learn Techniques to Handle, Recognize, and End Emotional Eating
No progress.
Spirituality
I have two goals with this.
Read a Passage of the Bible Daily
Just waiting for it to arrive. I have bought a subscription to The Word Among Us, which has Daily Mass Readings and a Daily Bible Reflection. I will read the Bible passage that corresponds to the Daily Bible Reflection and also read the Reflection and the Daily Mass Reading. Caveat: I just ordered The Word Among Us, so I likely won’t be able to start this goal until I receive the magazine, likely in 3 to 5 weeks.
Attend One Week Day Mass Weekly
That did not happen this week. I had hoped to go to the 6:30 a.m. Mass, but it’s difficult with our morning schedule, and it’s 30 minutes from home. I’m going to try to go with the girls this week at a different church at a different time. If it works, great. If not, I may resort to watching one morning Mass on the computer weekly.
Blog
Last year, I reached a point where I decided I need to grow my blog or shut it down completely. I gave serious though to shutting it down completely, but I really love blogging, so I decided to try to grow it. There are a number of things I need to do behind the scenes to make this happen
DONE!!–Have the Site Redesigned and Updated
The new redesign is complete.
Transfer My Email List
Over the years, I have lost access to my email list! Yikes! I’ve started a new one, but I’m starting from scratch. If you were on my previous email list, will you please sign up again?
Update at Least 200 Posts for SEO
No progress.
DONE!!–Delete at Least 100 Irrelevant Posts
Something tells me I should have made this goal much larger! I started deleting irrelevant posts, and I just couldn’t stop! I’ve been blogging for 11 years this March, and so far I’ve gone through two years’ worth of posts and deleted 563 irrelevant posts. By the time I’m done, I think I’ll be well over 1,000.
Read 40 Books
I have completed 6 books so far in January, making this goal 15% complete. Be sure to check out my historical fiction I want to read. If you’re a fellow bookworm, follow me on Goodreads; I’d love to follow you.
Learn Japanese
Do Duolingo Every Day
I did Duolingo every day this week, putting me on a 73 day streak.
Complete Japanese from Zero Book One
No progress. I discovered that the textbook Japanese from Zero Book One has a free online course supplement, so I’ll also be using that to help me make my way through Japanese from Zero. I’m excited for this goal and a little intimidated that I won’t be able to accomplish it because I’ll be short on time.
Reduce Our Grocery Bill
My goal this year is to reduce our grocery bill to $10,000 or $833 a month.
We spent $191.24 this week, bringing our total this month to $558.26, so we’re on track for the month.
Gain Control of My Email
My Google email now has 584 emails———–>down from 5,957 emails at the beginning of the year. This email is 90% completely finished.
No progress on these other nightmare email accounts:
My Yahoo blog email has 93,155 emails.
My Yahoo spam email has 161,328 emails.
My Yahoo personal email has 58, 832 emails.
Travel
If all goes as planned, this year will be a big year for travel.
Take a Trip to Michigan
This year, we plan to take another trip to Michigan. We’ll either go as a family vacation, or we’ll go to help my mom if she has her other hip replaced. We’re starting to save money for the trip now, but we won’t have any definitive plans until we learn what my mom plans to do.
Take a Trip to Japan

We haven’t been to Japan since 2002 for a variety of reasons, but this year will be the year that we go. The last time we were there, my husband’s nephew was 4 months old, and soon he’ll be 18! We can’t wait to go and are tentatively planning a trip for May.
That’s it. My 16 goals I want to accomplish in 2020: Week 3 of 52.

I am exactly the same way with dieting. I just do so much better if I cut certain foods out for some reason. Counting calories makes me feel like I am starving, but finding alternative foods is so much easier. I guess the trick is to find an eating style you can live with forever….which is never an easy task! **Just in case you care to spice it up, adding weighted exercises really helps burn more fat in less time. I always thought cardio was the way to go, but 25 minutes of weight training burns more calories than an hour of cardio. I love Bodyfit by Amy on YouTube. It’s free and I can workout from home.
Thanks. Glad to know I’m not alone. 🙂 I’ll look into that YouTube channel. I love free workouts I can do from home!
