This post contains affiliate links. Well, my original 2023 goal plan had 12 goals. This week, I’m adding two more. Since we moved, I’ve always felt behind. I’m relying on too many processed foods because I don’t always cook every night, and sometimes I post my work writing on the day it’s due, which I don’t like to do. So, I’m adding two new goals for the year to help me overcome these issues. Here are my goals for 2023: week 2 of 52
Personal Development
My kids are older now, so I have a bit more time to devote to personal development. So, these are the items I’d like to accomplish this year:
Write in my journal for 150 days
1.3% accomplished. I wrote in my journal once this week, so I’m up to two times for the year.
Crochet an afghan for our bed
I didn’t crochet this week.
Try 52 new recipes
5.8% accomplished. This week I made two new recipes: Mulligatawny Soup, and Slow Cooker Lentil Veggie Soup.
These are the new recipes I tried this year:
Slow Cooker Lentil Veggie Soup,
Read 30 books
6.6% accomplished. This week I finished Stephen King’s Fairy Tale. You can read what I have in store for my reading challenge in 2023 in this blog post. I have read two books in 2023:
Mission to Cathay (review coming soon!)
Fairy Tale (review coming soon!)
Volunteer 100 or more hours
1.25% accomplished. We volunteered for 1.25 hours at the local cat shelter.
Spend an average of two hours a week on researching my genealogy through June
No Ancestry work this week.
Health
Since a few months into the pandemic, I’ve focused on getting healthier. This year, I plan to complete the weight-loss component of that journey.
Follow Weight Watchers of Healthi to help me lose the last 40 to 45 pounds I need to lose
I followed for a few days. My biggest downfall right now is my sweet tooth.
Exercise an average of 300 hours this year
.9% accomplished. I exercised for 1 hour and 25 minutes this week, for a grand total of 2 hours and 45 minutes for the year.
Adventure/Family Time
Bookworm is in college in Michigan and the girls are getting older, so my husband and I want to prioritize family time before we’re empty nesters.
Visit 26 attractions
3.8% accomplished. No trips this week. Last week we went to Rochester.
Spend 1000 hours outdoors with the kids
.03% accomplished. We spent 1 hour and 10 minutes this week. So, we’ve spent 2 hours and 50 minutes outdoors this year.
I really don’t know if we’ll accomplish 1000 hours, but this goal is one that even if we fail, we win. Because we have this goal, we’re consciously spending more time outdoors.
Organization/Home Management
I have felt unorganized since June when we started prepping for our move. I really dislike feeling so scattered, so I’m planning to change that this year.
*NEW* Stay ahead in my writing.
For my blog, have at least 5 posts written in advance at any point in time. For my paid writing, I’d like to be a week ahead.
Currently, I’m 1/6 of a week ahead on my paid writing, and I have 2 posts written in advance for my blog.
*NEW* Have at least 12 freezer meals available in the freezer at any point in time.
Accomplishing this goal will stop me from relying on processed foods on the nights I don’t have time to cook. I have the following meals in the freezer:
Chili (2 meals)
Beefy Kale Tomato Soup. (2 meals)
Spend an average of three hours a week on administrative homeschool tasks
4.3% accompished. I spent 6.75 hours on homeschool and college-related activities. That included filling out the FASFA, writing the girls’ assignments for the next four weeks, and gathering information about dual enrollment for next year.
Get rid of 40 bags of clutter
7.5% complete. While cleaning the basement, I packed up two bags of clutter and set aside one small table to get rid of, which I’ll count as a bag.
That’s it. These are my ambitious goals for 2023. I’ll update them weekly as I have for the last several years.
What goals have you set for the new year?
