It’s also the year I hope to refine and improve on some personal goals that I started in 2021. Here are my goals for 2022.  I’d love if you’d share your goals in the comments!

My Goals for 2022

WORK

Stay Ahead in My Work

Often I feel like I’m scrambling with my work, writing posts just 48 hours before they’re due.  This year, I want to build in more margin and have my work completed one to two weeks before it’s due.

Blog

Likewise, while I sometimes get my blog posts done a week in advance, I want to branch into other topics that will require more planning and research.  The following goals will help with that:

Keep an Editorial Calendar

In 12 years of blogging, I’ve never kept an editorial calendar.  I’ll keep one in 2022.

Take Classes on SEO and Pinterest

I want to reach more people with my blog, so this year I am going to focus on completing some SEO courses as well as a Pinterest course I already have.  (Yes, this was a goal for last year that I didn’t accomplish.)

Update 52 Blog Posts

I have A LOT of blog posts to update after 12 years.  My goal is to update at least one a week.

Eliminate Broken Links

I also have over 1,800 broken links on my blog!  I will be eliminating these early in the year.

Get My Two Blog Email Accounts Down to Zero

My Goals for 2022

How many hours will this take?  I have no idea, but this will be an arduous task as I basically don’t delete any emails.  Time for that to change.  One work email has 112,413 messages, and the other has 8,291!

HOME IMPROVEMENTS

We did so many home improvements in 2021 that most of 2022 will be spent replenishing our home improvment fund.  However, there are some small improvements that we’d like to get done.

My Goals for 2022

  1. Put handles on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets,
  2. Replace the sliding glass door handle,
  3. Finish our master bathroom (We had a new shower tile installed, but now we need to do something with our vanity, paint the walls where we had the large mirror removed, and add smaller mirrors.)
  4. Replace the underlay on our roof.  (This will either be done in 2022 or early in 2023, depending on life circumstances.)

HEALTH

Walk 400 Miles This Year

I’ve been walking three or four times a week in 2021, but in 2022, I want to establish a better routine.  My plan is to walk 400 miles on the treadmill this year.  To keep myself on track, the goal is to be at 100 miles on March 31st, 200 miles on June 30th, 300 miles on September 30th, and 400 miles by December 31, 2022.

Make a Recipe Binder

I have a lot of recipes our family likes, but they’re not written down anywhere.

Have One Health Challenge a Month

I plan to spend each month focusing on one goal that will improve my health.

FAMILY

Take One Day a Week Completely Off Work

I have spent every weekend working for years and years.  One of my most important goals for 2022 is to experiment with taking one day a week completely off.  To find time for that, I’ve changed my schedule so that I walk in the evenings and work early in the a.m. before the kids wake up.

Spend No More Than 45 Minutes on Social Media a Day

Since the pandemic began, I’ve spent way too much time on social media.  That was okay in 2020, but I’m ready to get more involved in my own life, and that means dramatically cutting down on my social media time.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT/RELAXATION

Finish The Bible in a Year

Last year, I went through the first half of The Bible in a Year podcast.  This year, I plan to finish the second half.

Read 52 Books

This is an audacious goal for me–read 52 books in 2022.  I’ve even set a reading challenge for myself to make it more interesting.

Write in My Journal 100 Times This Year

I have a journal I’ve kept since I was eight, but after having all the kids, I’ve only written in it sporadically.  My goal is to write in it 100 times this year, so hopefully I develop the habit of writing in it regularly again.

TRAVEL

Take Four Local Trips

We plan to get out and about more, and one of the ways to do so is to take four local trips.  I’m not sure where we’ll go yet or when.  That depends on the pandemic.

Travel to Michigan

We haven’t seen my mom in 23 months.  We’re hoping to be able to drive out to see her in Michigan since she is still leery of flying.  When will we go?  Again, that depends on the pandemic!

Travel to Japan

I’m putting this goal here because we were planning to go to Japan in February, 2020.  Covid had already hit Japan by then, so my husband’s mom asked us to cancel the trip. Little did we know how much our world would change in March, 2021.  We’d love to go to Japan in 2022, but that will depend on how the pandemic goes.

Final Thoughts

There you have it, my goals for 2022!  I’d love to hear what you’re planning to accomplish in the new year.
