This post contains affiliate links. We had a busy week this week going to Halloween parties and celebrating one of our kids’ birthdays. We homeschool year round because some weeks are full of activity and not much school (like this week). Homeschooling year round allows us to take small breaks during th year to have fun. Here are my 2022 goals part 2: week 15 of 24.

My Goals for 2022 Part 2
HOME IMPROVEMENTS
These new home improvement goals are based on our new house.
Paint the front family room. This is done, but I can’t show you pictures because we still have a few boxes to unpack.Paint the downstairs hallway.Paint PB & J Girl’s bedroom. I’ll have pictures to share next week. (I wanted to share this week, but she says it’s not picture worthy yet!)Paint Cuddle Bug’s bedroom. This room had green carpet and dark yellow walls. We can’t afford to replace the carpet yet, but Cuddle Bug embraced it and picked a light green comforter and a light green accent wall. I love the way she embraced a color she would never chose and doesn’t really like.- Replace the kitchen sink.
- Buy
lawncareand snow removal equipment. We went to the store to price a snowblower, but we haven’t bought one yet. - Move or trim some of the trees and landscaping close to the house to let in more natural light. My husband started working on this, and already I see such a difference!
Replace one of the bedroom windows.Done! It looks so nice and feels so much warmer in our daughter’s room that we wish we would have also replaced the master bedroom window. Maybe next year.
Fix the leaking crack in the basement. Done!I was concerned that the insulation covering the basement wall would have mold, and my concern was well-founded. There was mold. I’m worried about my health given my previous problems with mold exposure, but the worker sectioned off that area with plastic while he worked, we had an air purifier running downstairs, and I made sure I was out of the house when the work was done, so hopefully it’s okay.
HEALTH
Walk 175 Miles This Year
No walking this week, but I did spend over four hours this week on lawn work. If you need me, I’ll be outside raking leaves every.day!

This goal is 79% complete. For the year, I’ve walked 138.4 miles on the treadmill, for 2680 minutes.
Start Weight Watchers Again
Since Weight Watchers changed the plan last November, I’ve struggled! I really miss the Purple and Green plans. I have heard that the plan might change again this upcoming November. I hope so! If not, I made need to do something else because I really want to get these last 40 or so pounds off in 2023.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Read 40 Books
This goal is 87.5% complete. I did not finish any books this week, but I’m reading one that is almost done and that I can’t wait to review. I have completed 35 books in 2022:
Fahrenheit 451 (review coming soon)
Animal Farm (review coming soon)
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
The Unusual Life of Thomas Weaver
No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality
I’m Still Standing: From Captive U.S. Soldier to Free Citizen–My Journey Home
I’m currently reading/listening to several books. (Check out my reading challenge to see what I plan to read this year.)
Write in My Journal 30 Times This Year
This goal is 60% complete. I have written in my journal 18 times this year.
Make a Recipe Binder
This goal is 4.2% complete. Progress is slow. I have 3 recipes in my binder, but there’s room for 71.
TRAVEL
Take Eight Local Trips
Another one is on the horizon!
This goal is 75% complete.
In Arizona
Trip #1: We took our first trip to a local pop-up history event set in the 1880s. We saw a blacksmith working and listened to a band play old time music from the 1880s. It was a small event but fun.
Trip #2: We went to the Japanese Children’s Day Festival!
In Michigan
Trip #3: We stopped by Michigan to visit my mom before we make our way to New York. We decided to visit Adams Blueberry Farm to pick some organic blueberries. My kids haven’t done this for 8 years, since we moved to Arizona. My husband and I both commented how nice it is to be back in a place where we can do activities like this.
In New York
Trip #5: I didn’t take any pictures, but we went to Bliss Family Farm’s Homeschooler Day. They had a small petting zoo, bowling with pumpkins, and a HUGE corn maze, which we were lost in for some time. We also got to each take a pumpkin home.
Trip #6: We went to Genesee Country Village & Musuem. More details coming soon!
In Pennsylvania
Trip #4: More details to come about our trip to Philly!

Travel to Michigan
We went to Michigan!! We’ve actually gone to Michigan five times this year because of all the back-and-forth driving we’ve done between Arizona and New York and getting Bookworm settled in college there. This goal has been accomplished many times over.
