This post contains affiliate links.  Arizona is sizzling.  Yesterday, the high was 114 degrees.  When I got up and outside to walk at 5 a.m. the temperature was already a steamy 85 degrees.  This has been going on for five days and will continue for a few more.  The heat tapped out a lot of my energy, so this update isn’t as good as I would like it to be.

On the good news front, late last week we got our elderly, sick cat an antiobiotic and steroid shot.  He’s doing much better now, but the vet warned me if I’m lucky, I’ve bought him 3 to 6 weeks before the steroid wears off and he starts suffering again.

What I Accomplished This Week

Read the second half of The Sound the Sun Makes this week.

The Sound the Sun Makes by Buck Storm

Yes. I finished the book and already published my review.

Follow along to Bible in a Year for 7 episodes.

No, I didn’t listen to 7 episodes, but I did listen to 5, so that’s good.

Every day walk 1.2 miles or bike two miles this week.

No.  For the first time in 7 weeks, I took one day off.  It was so hot in our bedroom one night that neither my husband nor I slept well, so I slept in a bit the next morning.

Also, last weekend, it was still cool enough that I was able to walk 1.2 miles per day, but starting around Tuesday, it was in the 80s at 5 a.m. and I felt like I was slogging through split pea soup.  I only walked one mile those days.  While the heat is beastly, I’m going to lower my expectations.

Do 15 squats a day.

No.  Again, I started strong last weekend, but I stopped once the heat hit.

Do two arm workouts this week.

No.

Listen to one healthy living podcast this week.

Yes.  I listened to Transform Your Life with a Digital Detox.

Write in my journal three times this week.

Yes.

Continue my family cookbook by typing up three more recipes this week.

No. I have to get going on this again.

List all of our used homeschool curriculum for sale.

No.  I got everything ready, logged in, created a listing, and then discovered that eBay changed how they pay sellers.  Now, I have to give my date of birth, last four digits of my social security number, and then my bank routing number.  I wasn’t quite comfortable with that, so I decided to wait.  I’ll try my luck at selling on FB groups and see how it goes.

Declutter the kitchen island and counter.

No.  I didn’t get to this this week.

Help the girls list their outgrown doll and Barbie items to sell.

Yes.  I listed these on a FB group, but so far, no takers

Organize my dresser drawers and declutter them.

Yes.

Declutter our master closet.

No.  It was too hot!

Goals for This Week

Knowing I’m not that productive in the summer once it gets really hot, I’m reducing my goals for next week.

  • Follow along to Bible in a Year for 5 episodes.
  • Walk 1 mile or bike two miles every day this week.
  • Listen to one healthy living podcast.
  • Write in my journal three times this week.
  • Continue my family cookbook by typing up three more recipes this week.
  • Declutter the kitchen island and counter.

How are your goals going for 2021?
