I continue smashing out my goal to earn 10% more this year. In fact, if my workload continues as it is now, I will earn well over 10% more this year. I’m doing my bookkeeping now for last year, so hopefully by next week, I’ll be able to tell you what percentage my income has increased.
However, that means that to find the time, a lot of my other goals are falling by the wayside.
But I’m not giving up on these goals. I think this is just like that famous analogy about trying to fit the big rocks into a jar along with the little rocks and the sand. I can do this, I just need to figure out how.
A few weeks ago, I started looking into block scheduling and experimenting with it. I think that may help a lot, but I haven’t had time to finish the block schedule. Ha ha!
Use the Barton reading program with one of my dyslexic children 4x a week for at least 45 weeks.
DONE! I’ve discovered that with our schedule, 3x a week works better, so next week I’m changing the wording of this goal to 2 hours of Barton a week, which is what I hoped to accomplish with 4 sessions.
In other exciting news, I got my other child with dyslexia, my VERY reluctant learner, to start Level 1 with me. I’m so excited, and I may have used the idea of a sushi meal when the level is complete as motivation. Hey, whatever works!
Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day six days a week.
Nope. But I really do need to get going with this one, not for weight loss, but for health. Sometimes I stand up and start walking, and everything is aching. I feel like an 80 year old woman. Use it or lose it, as they say, and at my age, once I start losing abilities, it will be hard to get them back.
Eat only food made at home with the exception of three times a week.
DONE. Joining Weight Watchers has definitely helped with this! In another week or two I’ll give you a Weight Watchers update.
Practice meditation 4x a week.
Nope, not once, unfortunately.
Learn to eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full.
DONE. For the first time in months, my stomach has actually been growling, and I wake up hungry.
Eat at least 6 fruits and veggies a day.
DONE. Oh, and as a bonus, my sweet consumption has been reduced dramatically, for the most part. On high stress days (and there have been a lot of them these past 10 days), I reach for the sugar. I have to find a better way to manage my stress.
Blog 3x a week for at least 45 weeks of the year.
DONE. The last two weeks I’ve published three to five blog posts a week.
Increase my business income by 10%.
Read at least 30 minutes a day.
DONE. Right now, I’m reading Becoming by Michelle Obama, Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp. You can find my reading progress at my Goodreads account. I’d love it if you’d follow me there, and I’d love to follow you if you have a Goodreads account.
Read at least 6 religious/spiritual books.
I’ve picked my first book of the six and have started reading Saint John Paul the Great: His Five Loves by Jason Evert.
Read the Bible in a year.
NO. I need to find a way to get this back in my schedule.
Raise $1,000 for a trip to Michigan
We had to take a break from this for a few weeks to raise money for my husband’s new cell phone, but now we’re back on track. Last time we reported, we had $285.20 saved, and now we’re at $426.80. We’re now 42.6% at our goal. Hopefully we can go this summer.
Write one thing I’m grateful for a day
No, but I definitely need to get this into my block schedule.
Have you set goals? If so, I’d love to hear them!
