Many of you may be planning to join Crystal at Money Saving Mom and Jessica at Life as Mom for their upcoming freezer days. I thought I would share a few of my favorite sources for obtaining freezer cooking recipes.
My favorite, free, option is Recipezaar. I simply type if OAMC (once a month cooking) and up pop literally hundreds of recipes. I try to only pick the recipes that are rated with 4.5 to 5 stars. The nice thing is that each month when I go back, more recipes have been added, so the options are never stagnant. There is always something new to try.
I also turn to my cookbooks sometimes. One of my favorites is Holly Clegg’s Trim & Terrific Freezer Friendly Meals.
This book is great because not only do the recipes taste good, but all of the recipes containing the nutritional information. I find that some freezer cooking sites are not concerned with fat and calories. This cookbook, however, offers both tasty and health conscious meals.
My other favorite cookbook is Don’t Panic—Dinner’s in the Freezer.
These are the sources I use to get 90% of my recipes for freezer cooking. Do you have other resources you use?

I haven't done a lot of freezer cooking, but enjoy following along with all those in blogland who do! Maybe one of these days, I'll be inspired to join in! 🙂
I've tried several of the recipezaar OAMC recipes after seeing a link here – love the resource!!
Thanks for the ideas on books, too. I've been waiting on a few through the library and the wait is loooong…maybe I'll have better luck with these 🙂
I'm scared to try oamc because I don't have the freezer space.
One of these days though I am going to give it a try! I suppose I could start off by just freezing a few basic things. Thanks for the resources!
Great tip. I didn't realize they had a OMAC section. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing these resources. I've just started making freezer meals, and I'm looking for recipes that aren't overly cheesy. We all like lasagna, etc., but we can't eat that every day. 🙂
Thanks for sharing! I'd like to start freezer cooking, so these are much appreciated!
Thanks for the tip! Right now, my freezer is 'overstocked,' so I have to use up a lot of stuff before I make more. But it's nice to know a good source for OAMC cooking recipes (even if I don't really do it that way–I just make a few recipes I like here and there and freeze them.)
I can't wait to check out these books. The one OAMC book I own is from Deanna Buxton called Dinner is Ready. I like how it teaches the method pretty simply. I've branched out and started trying my own recipes as well as getting some from the internet. Thanks for the reviews on these books!
I have the Don't Panic cookbook…we've made a handful of things from it so far and I like it. My mom also got me a cookbook from Super Suppers but I haven't made anything from it yet.
I, too, am interested in the website that you use.
TIA,
deb
Last month I did a OAMC session with another bloggy friend and we had a ball. I haven't used any cookbooks but used once-a-month mom's blog as she has all the menus set up along with what to buy, etc. I'm going to have to see if our library has these cookbooks as they look delish!
Sherry–I would love the link to the blog with all of the freezer meal recipes!
Thanks for the resources! I can't wait to try the Recipe Czar OAMC search.
Good stuff! I had no idea there was such a high volume of OAMC recipes on Zaar.
🙂
I am always worried about what is okay to cook and freeze.
