My favorite time to shop for birthdays and the holidays is right AFTER the holidays. Then, I can find great mark downs and get birthday presents and holiday gifts at a much more reasonable price.
After Christmas sales are a great time to stock up on cozy warm pajamas with a holiday or winter theme and toys and books that retailers want to clear from the shelves.
One of my favorite stores to shop is Kohl’s. Recently, Kohl’s updated their online toy page, so buyers can now shop not only by category and gender, but also by age. (Check it out here.)
This year I plan to shop Kohl’s for some birthday toys and holiday decor. (Every year I slowly add a few holiday items to my collection to decorate our home with.)

I got all my holiday shopping done in time, so I’d probably use a Kohl’s gift certificate to add a few basic work wardrobe items. When I get a library job, I’ll need to look more professional than I have in the past 5 years at the software company. Santa gave me some patterned tights from Kohl’s (without my even having to write a letter!), so I’d be eyeing more of those and probably a neutral sweater or some long-sleeved layers.
