I’m no stranger to freezer cooking.  It something I did a lot when the girls were little and I was in survival mode.  But as our various food intolerances grew, I stopped freezer cooking as often.

I’ve tried off and on to get into freezer cooking again, but I never have been able to make it a regular part of my routine until I had the opportunity to review My FreezEasy.  What a game changer!  As a member of the Crew, I received the Premium Annual Membership to MyFreezEasy.com Freezer Meal Plan Membership.

I’m simply in love with this program, and I even had not one, not two, but three freezer cooking sessions during the five week review period.

About My FreezEasy

My FreezEasy is the brain child of Erin Chase, the author of numerous cookbooks and the blogger behind $5 Dinner Mom.  Chase is running a busy business and is mom to four boys, so she gets how busy a mom’s life can be.  Furthermore, some of Chase’s kids have food intolerances/allergies, so she also understands specialized diets.

Chase makes freezer cooking easy.  She not only develops a list of five meals each month (that you can double to make a grand total of 10 freezer meals for the month), but she also lists all of the groceries you’ll need (arranged by section in the store or by recipe), and she gives step by step instructions for putting the meals together.  If you’d like to use them, she even offers labels that you can print and adhere to your freezer meals.

My FreezEasy offers several different ways to search for recipes and freezer cooking plans.  The easiest way is to simply search under “This Month’s Meal Plans.”  There, you can choose the plan you’d like to follow for the month.  Choices include:

  • Traditional Meal Plan
  • Gluten-Free Meal Plan
  • Slow Cooker Meal Plan
  • Clean Eats Meal Plan
  • 20 Meals Plan
  • All Chicken Meals Plan
  • All Ground Beef Meals Plan
  • All Pork Chops Meal Plan

See a recipe on the plan that you don’t like?  No problem.  Simply choose “swap a meal” and you can choose from the menu data base to choose a meal you do like to replace the one you don’t.  (Each month’s recipes are added to the data base when the month is over and a new monthly plan is released.)

When you choose your own recipe, you can also choose among other categories such as “Paleo” or “Whole 30” or “Top 8 Allergy Free Recipes.”

Finally, you can choose whether you’d like 2, 4, 6, or 8 servings.  My first freezer cooking session, I chose 8 servings because, well, Bookworm eats and eats and eats, and because I’d like leftovers for lunches on busy school days.  Let me tell you, Chase’s serving sizes are generous!  Some of the 8 serving meals I made didn’t fit in a one gallon freezer bag.  I had to separate the meal into two bags.

How We Used My FreezEasy

Because we have so many food intolerances, I choose to pick my own meals for my plan.  This worked great!  I found a lot of recipes that could accommodate our food intolerances, so I didn’t have much trouble finding meals that would work.  Even better, my family really loved the food.

I ended up having three different freezer cooking sessions.  Two I did in the traditional manner of making all of the meals at once.  The last one was during a busy week, so I simply planned on each meal making one dinner that week.  Then, when I was prepping for dinner, I just doubled the amount of the recipe and threw one bag in the freezer.  This was a super easy way to fill the freezer; I think it’s my preferred method now!

Here are some of the yummy meals we made:

Improvements to Be Made

Overall, I think this is a fantastic program, and I highly endorse it.  I plan to continue paying for membership after my free trial expires.

I would, however, like to see more Paleo recipes.

Otherwise, I think Chase has done an excellent job making life easier for moms everywhere with this program.
