100_5578aYou might remember are 200 pounds of apples that are filling our spare refrigerator downstairs?  We’ve been eating them by themselves, as apple crisp, and as slow cooker applesauce.

I can’t believe how much better it is than store bought, and it’s so simple to make!

Best of all, it’s sugar free and only has 4 ingredients.

Homemade Sugar-Free Slow Cooker Paleo Applesauce

Ingredients

3/4 cup water
1 TBSP lemon juice
27 to 30 small Rome apples or 20 large apples (enough to fill a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker to the top)
1/2 to 1 TBSP cinnamon, depending on preference

Directions

-Put the water and lemon juice in the slow cooker.

-Peel, core and cut the apple into slices.  Mix with the water and lemon juice to help prevent browning while you prepare the rest of the apples.

-When the slow cooker is full, sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and stir thoroughly.

-Heat on high for one hour.

-After one hour, cook on low for 4 to 5 more hours until the apple slices become chunky bits when you stir.

-If you like smooth applesauce, puree in a food processor.  (That’s the way we do it.)
