UPDATE: The winner is Monica [email protected] Congratulations!
If you host your family’s Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, you probably know the experience of standing on your feet for a few hours, trying to frantically get several dishes done at once so dinner will be ready when your guests arrive. Then, there are the endless dishes to do afterward.
That is exactly what Jonnie Downing struggled with year after year until she had an epiphany. Why not put the slow cooker to work for her so she didn’t have to have hands on preparation with so many dishes? Once she put a few slow cookers to work, she was much more relaxed and had a more enjoyable holiday.
The end result was a slow cooker cookbook filled with endless delicious recipes. Holiday Slow Cooker: Delicious Recipes for a Year of Hassle-Free Celebrations includes over 80 slow cooker recipes to cover a year’s worth of holidays from the biggies like Thanksgiving and Christmas to the smaller holidays like Bastille Day and Oktoberfest. Each recipe fits the theme of the holiday. For instance, the recipes for President’s Day include Jackie Kennedy’s Beef Stroganoff and Ronald Reagan’s Hamburger Soup.
We have tried a few recipes from this book including Pinto Beans with Bacon and Meatballs in Tangy Sauce, and we liked both of them. I am also planning to try some of the slow cooker recipes for President’s Day and for Thanksgiving.
This book contains gorgeous color photos as well as some facts about the different holidays such as the history of Mardi Gras and how much trash the 2004 Munich Oktoberfest generated.
If you love using the slow cooker and want to try some tasty recipes, this is the book for you.
