I bought almost all of these groceries for the week on December 1st. My mom is here for the month, so we haven’t decided yet if we’re going to temporarily increase the grocery budget to accommodate her or if we’re going to leave it as is and rely on our stock to make it through.
Anyway, I bought all of these groceries, and then my mom flew in; she was sick with a cold and ate very little for two days. Then, Bookworm was sick with a cold and ate about half of his usual amount. Then, I had a colonoscopy, so for one day I was on a very light diet, and for the next day I could just have apple or grape juice and broth.
I feel like we have quite a few groceries left, so I’m hoping we can have a light grocery week this upcoming week, which will help me save some money for the freezer cooking I want to do at the middle to end of the month.
Just a Few Facts About Us
Our family of 5 chooses to eat mostly organic produce and grass-fed and pasture-raised meats. I’m Paleo, my daughter is semi-Paleo, and the rest of us are gluten free. Everyone except my husband is dairy free. Our goal for the last few months of the year is to spend on average $750 per month on groceries.

Here’s what we bought over the last week:
Sprout’s & Trader Joe’s – $89.79
Natural Grocer & Basha’s – $26.91
Costco – $116.92
U.S. Wellness Meats – $90.25
We splurged and ordered two small 2 pound hams for Christmas. We’ll eat one on Christmas day and then eat the other sometime later. We buy the ham from U.S. Wellness Meats once a year at Christmas, and it is yummy!
