This post contains affiliate links.  Have you heard of Green Chef?  Green Chef is a service that delivers to your door all the ingredients you need for either three meals or two meals a week.  No grocery shopping.  Just the ingredients and the instructions you need to make fantastic, restaurant quality meals.  I recently had the opportunity to review Green Chef’s Paleo meals for two, and let me tell you, the meals were fantastic!

About Green Chef

Green Chef offers two main services.  One is for two people for three meals for the week.  The other is for four people for two meals for the week.  Each service has food plans you can choose based on your needs and eating preferences.

Plans Available for Two

If you choose the two person plan, you can choose from these options:

  • Omnivore (standard menu)
  • Carnivore
  • Gluten-Free
  • Vegan
  • Paleo
  • Vegetarian

These plans run from $10.49 per meal to $14.99 per meal with Vegetarian being the cheapest and Paleo being the most expensive.

Plans Available for Four

For the four person plan, you can choose from these options:

  • Omnivore ($11.99 per meal)
  • Carnivore ($12.99 per meal)

You can choose to have the food delivered to a residential or business address, and you can choose the dates that you want the food delivered.  (In my area, I can choose between a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday delivery date.)  When you first sign up, using this link you can get $55 off your first order.

Our Experience Using Green Chef

We received ingredients for three Paleo meals:

  • Chicken Waldorf Salad
  • BBQ Beef Mini-Loaves
  • Orange-Ginger Salmon

We live in Arizona, and the box was delivered on a day that was in the 70s.  I was pleased to see that the box was well insulated and contained plenty of freezer packs, so our food was in beautiful condition.  It was still cool, but not frozen, and the produce was free of blemishes.  I couldn’t be happier with the way our food ingredients arrived.

I also noticed that each recipe was given a particular color–navy blue, light blue, and orange–and the ingredients that went with the recipe also contained the same color tag, so it was easy to quickly pick out what recipe goes with which ingredients.

The recipe cards include a picture of the finished product as well as pictures of the step-by-step instructions.  In addition, the recipe card also gives an estimated time for prep and cook time.  I found that I was usually about 5 minutes slower than the estimated time.  If a recipe said it took 40 minutes to prep and cook, it took me 45 minutes.

When We’d Use This Service

I love knowing that this service is available.  When we travel, we can rarely go out to eat thanks to all of our food intolerances.  I’d love to have this service delivered when we’re vacationing so that we don’t have to go to the hassle of bringing meals from home.  Instead, we could have Green Chef delivered to our door, cook the meal, and enjoy restaurant quality food at home.  This service would also be helpful if we’re vacationing in a location that does not have health food stores that we rely on to get our specialized foods.

I also imagine this service would be fabulous for dual-income households who are busy with careers and kids and don’t have time to menu plan and grocery shop.  This service offers a great way to get a healthy, tasty meal on the table.
