I love when I’m able to spend money on gifts for friends and family and shop at a store that gives something back. GreaterGood is just that kind of place. I can choose from hundreds of gifts for my family and friends at reasonable prices, and GreaterGood gives a percentage of my purchase to designated charities. Win, win!
How Does GreaterGood Work?
GreaterGood gives money to a number of charities including those that help hunger, breast cancer, animals, veterans, autism, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, literacy, and the Rain Forest. You can shop GreaterGood simply by choosing the items you like or by choosing the cause you want to help.
For instance, if you click on “hunger” you will see that thanks to purchases on the site, GreaterGood has funded, “the value of more than 820 million cups of food for the hungry.” If you click on “hunger” there is a list of over 4,000 items you can purchase where a portion of the money you spend will help support the hungry.
In addition, GreaterGood has 5 sourcing principles. They will not source products:
- made by child labor or produced in unsafe environments,
- made by people who were not paid a fair wage,
- that will harm people or animals in their manufacture or use,
- with hazardous toxic material content (and they test all orders for lead),
- purchase imitations of copy-righted designs where the copy-right holder has not been paid a royalty.
My Experience with GreaterGood
GreaterGood generously offered me a $50 gift certificate to facilitate this review. I could not be more pleased with the experience!
I purchased pink cultured freshwater pearl and sterling silver stud earrings ($14.95), a ‘Loving Mother Is the Greatest Gift’ sterling and gold plated heart necklace ($14.95), and a ‘Garden Party’ broad-brimmed woven paper sun hat with ribbon trim ($19.95).
I was immediately sent a confirmation e-mail, and the items arrived very quickly, in less than a week. All of the products were high quality and packaged safely. I couldn’t be more happy with my experience, and I plan to use GreaterGood again to buy birthday and Christmas presents.
One lucky Mom’s Plans’ reader will receive a $50 gift certificate to GreaterGood. To enter, simply go to the GreaterGood site and find something you’d like to buy if you’re the winner. Then come back here and leave a comment stating what that item is.
