When I was in graduate school, I decided to try coloring to relax. After all, I enjoyed coloring as a kid. . .However, this was before the age of adult coloring books, so even though I tried to find the most sophisticated kids’ coloring book I could find, I still felt pretty silly. I quickly abandoned the notion of coloring to relax.
Fast forward to this fall, when I started using Tyndale’s Gratitude: A Prayer and Praise Journal (currently discounted from $14.99 to $11.24). I love this book!
About Gratitude: A Prayer and Praise Journal
This book is compact, just 6″ x 8″, which I love. There are over 100 pictures to color, and interspersed, there are 40 needs-based prayers. There are also blank pages where you can write your own thoughts, express your gratitude for all of the good in your life (even on days when life is difficult), or draw your own picture. This is really a very open-ended journal that fosters both praise and creativity.
My daughters saw me coloring, so they each asked to do a page. They chose the page they wanted, and then they took turns coloring while I was homeschooling the other one individually. The system worked beautifully, and I loved watching their concentration and focus while coloring.
