I last updated our goals at the end of November. Here is our progress since then:
–Pay off our credit cards. Fail. We owed $15,815.82 when I set these goal on January 4th, and now, as of December 31st, our balance is $12,894.32.
–Pay off my student loan. On Track. On January 4th, my student loan had a balance of $6,167.53; as of December 31st, the balance is $4,218.94, so we have paid off $1,948.59 or 31.5%.
–Snowflake at least $750 a month on debt. Fail. This continues to be at a standstill. I don’t see it happening in the foreseeable future, either, as most of our extra money now is being funneled to medical bills.
–Sell $1,000 of stuff around the house. Accomplished. In 2011, we sold $1,550 of stuff, and the goal is to sell $1,000 in 2012. As of November 30th, we had sold $1,115.77, and thanks to eBay, we sold another $269, bringing our total for the year to $1,384.77
–Lose 25% of my body weight. Accomplished. I am amazed that I accomplished this one. Through August, I was stuck at only 3 or 4% of my body weight gone. Then, I found out about all of my health issues, went on the Paleo diet, and gave up my biggest problem foods–Starbuck’s frappuccinos, sugar, and carbs. Then, the weight just melted off. I have now lost 25.3% of my body weight.
–Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Accomplished. I am now able to do this nearly every night, and it feels great.
–Send my daughter to Japanese school. Accomplish & Fail. After much debate and viewing two other potential schools, my husband and I decided to send our daughter to Japanese school. She went from May through September, but we have pulled her out because we could no longer afford it. (However, we do have a new plan to get her and our youngest daughter in Japanese school this summer.)
–Increase our emergency fund. Accomplished. In January, my target was to have an emergency fund of $3,000. Again, thanks to the flash savings challenge and some extra jobs in December, we now have a $3,000 emergency fund.
How did you do on your goals this year?

Those are some pretty substantial goals and you’ve accomplished so many of them. Congrats! I’ve heard a lot of about the Paleo diet but know know a lot about it. I’m going to have to do so research, it sounds like it’s really effective for a lot of people. Buying a home was on my goals list for this year and we purchased our first condo, so I’m very pleased with that one. Starting a blog was also on the list-check. Wishing you a safe, happy , healthy and financially prosperous 2013!
What I love most about the Paleo diet is that I am not hungry. Every time I tried a diet before, I was always hungry!
Great job losing 25% of your weight. That’s a lot of weight. You did really well on all your goals. 2013 will be even better.
Happy New Year!
Thanks. I was amazed how quickly it came off once I started the Paleo diet.
You did really well with these – especially the ones that have to do with maintaining your physical health. I’m confident that will pay off in spades in 2013.
I hope so. I can’t wait to eat normally again; my food is so restricted right now. 🙂
Great job on keeping up with your goals. You may not have accomplished all of them, but you are making great progress. Better than you would have had you not made them.
You are moving forward…that’s all that matters.

Thanks. I figure the same thing; we wouldn’t have accomplished nearly as much if we hadn’t set down the goals.
