UPDATE:  The winner is Barbara [email protected]  Congratulations!

Did you  know that 1 in 3 Americans have hypertension?  The DASH diet, which stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, is a way for those with hypertension, and those who want to avoid hypertension, to eat delicious foods and improve their condition.

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Fresh & Healthy DASH Diet Cooking Cookbook, and this cookbook is a winner.  Even my mom, who doesn’t like to stray far from her favorite childhood recipes, cooked several recipes from this cookbook.

The DASH diet focuses on healthy foods with lean meats, low fat dairy, healthy grains, fruits, and vegetables.  For those of you who like to follow a clean eating plan, this book also fits the bill.

While no one in our family has high blood pressure, this book is great for those who can’t have dairy because many of the recipes are dairy free.  Case in point is the yummy chocolate tofu pudding that we made from the cookbook.  Two of my kids can’t have dairy, so they don’t get pudding, but this pudding they could have and enjoy.

While this cookbook is specifically designed for those who want to reduce their blood pressure, it is also a good find for anyone who is interested in eating healthier.
