???????????????????????????????

This grocery budget is getting T-O-U-G-H!

Because we’ve been eating the same things for breakfast, my egg intolerance has come back.  I want to avoid getting any more intolerances back, so I’m going to have to be careful to include a large variety of foods, which is tough on this budget.

My husband would like to up the grocery budget (as would I), but you can’t bleed a turnip, as they say.  We’ll see what the next few weeks bring.

This year, I’m aiming to spend $6,500 total for food for my family.  That amount includes groceries only, NOT toiletries.  We rarely eat out, so the food I buy to prepare at home is what we eat.
Since my husband is paid bi-monthly, the goal is to spend no more than $500 every 4 weeks.  (I don’t calculate the amount spent on a monthly basis but on an every 4 week cycle.)

We try to eat organic veggies and fruit as much as possible, and we try to buy meat that is grass-fed and organic.  We have multiple food intolerances, with the biggies being gluten, corn, and dairy.

Here’s what we bought from May 1st to May 7th:

Costco – $38.57

Fry’s Trip – $26.70

We bought some “healthier” chicken hot dogs that were on clearance.  We’ll be saving these for summer time grilling or for easy lunches.

Whole Foods – $7.97

Sprout’s Trip #1 – $28.19

???????????????????????????????

POW WOW – $10

???????????????????????????????

Trader Joe’s – $31.30

Sprout’s Trip #2 – $37.38

This trip was expensive because it included all of the things for my Mother’s Day meal–smoked salmon sushi.

I also found sausage on clearance, so I bought that for my husband for his lunches.
