Last week I thought I’d have a pantry challenge this week, but then I remembered that I had two potlucks to go to, and we had to make 8 dozen allergen friendly cookies for the girls’ AHG Cookie Sale, so, no pantry challenge this week.  (Quite the opposite, actually!)  Here’s how we are eating healthy gluten free dairy free food on a budget {week 7 of 52}.

Here’s what I bought the week of 12/8 – 12/14:

Natural Grocer’s – $22.18

My family loves, loves, loves Nieman Ranch’s pulled pork, but it’s almost $9 at full price.  I always wait until it goes on clearance at $4.55 and stock up.

Natural Grocer’s – $9.46

We also really like the dairy free yogurt, but it’s too expensive to eat unless it’s on clearance.

Fry’s, Sprout’s, Costco, Trader Joe’s & Natural Grocer’s – $141.19

The big expenses here were the grassfed ground beef and bacon.  Plus, we stocked up a bit on Daiya cheese and Nut Thins (these are the only flavor I’ve found that are gluten free and dairy free) that were on sale.

Fry’s & Sprout’s – 20.05

At the end of this week, both of our girls got sick, so we spent some unexpected money on their sick food.  My husband did the shopping and bought a few extra items he enjoys like tofu.

Fry’s & Sprout’s (Bookworm’s Groceries) – $45

The first few weeks Bookworm was filling up on lots of rice and potatoes, but he realized that didn’t keep him full, so this week he decided to add more protein to his diet, and he was fuller.  He found great clearance deals on meat including organic, grass fed beef for $1.99 a pound!
