Recently I shopped at several different Walgreen’s to purchase cat food. (That post is coming later today.) I live in a large suburban area, so I may pass through three different villages in a 15 minute drive.
When I looked at the receipts in detail, I noticed that some villages charged 8.5% sales tax and others 9.5%. This makes a big difference! Now that I am cognizant of this, I will try to shop only at the villages with the lower sales tax.
Take a look at your receipts. You may be surprised by what you find.

We're all the same here in Michigan, 6%. We don't have any of those cool no-tax weekends that I've heard about in other states either.
