This post contains affiliate links. Before we left for our Michigan trip, my mom suggested we stop by Cherry Republic in Traverse City, Michigan. Since Traverse City is the Cherry Capitol of the World, we thought checking it out was an excellent suggestion.
About Cherry Republic – Traverse City, Michigan
Set in the area of Traverse City filled with restaurants, gift shops, and clothing stores, we had no trouble parking on the street. The store was filled with all things cherry, as you might imagine. They had little stands out so you could sample some of the goods.
My daughters tried the Cherry Peach Salsa, the Mild Cherry Salsa, and the Hot Cherry Salsa. We bought a jar of the latter.
They also tried Cherry BBQ Sauce and Cherry Jam. (They didn’t like the jam because it reminded them of the cherry medicine taste when they were little.)
Since my mom watched our cats while we were going, we bought her milk chocolate-covered cherries. We bought a bag of dark chocolate-covered cherries. Finally, we bought some Chocolate Covered Cherry Turtles.
When we were there, they were offering a sale on Summer Sausage with Dried Cherries, by one, get one free.
They had an ice cream stand in the back of the store, but sadly, during our visit the ice cream shop was closed.
Final Thoughts
If you love all things cherry and are in Traverse City, you can’t go wrong visiting the Cherry Republic. Like any specialty shop, you’ll pay more for the unique flavors, but we thought it was worth the splurge.
