For several years now, we’ve placed a premium on high quality meat.  I believe it’s best for our bodies and most natural.  Quality meat is also important to me because several of us are on a Paleo diet, and I want quality foods in our bodies.

While I try to source some of the meat locally, such as our semi-annual grass-fed 1/4 of beef, it’s often difficult to source the other meats locally.  I’m always looking for new ways to get quality meat, and one of my favorites so far is ButcherBox.

About ButcherBox

Located out of Vermont, ButcherBox, ran a Kickstarter campaign to launch their business and exceeded their goal quickly.  In fact, they ultimately exceeded their goal by 840%!  ButcherBox has continued to make improvements and is delivering a high quality product to people around the country.

Our Experience with ButcherBox

I’ve ordered from ButcherBox twice now and plan to order more.  I have been very impressed with their products and their delivery as well as the customer service.

img_8548In one box, I received:

  • A ButcherBox insulated tote bag (perfect to use when grocery shopping),
  • 2 pkgs beef thinly sliced (delicious!)
  • 4 pork chops
  • 1 pkg beef sirloin tips
  • 2 lbs. of ground beef
  • 1 pkg. chicken breasts
  • 1 pkg. bacon

I love that the boxes contain a variety of meats and cuts.

Of course, you can also choose a box with just one single type of meat of two types, which I did when I got this beef and pork box:

And I just want to take a minute to rave about the packaging!  We live in Arizona, and eight months of the year, it’s quite hot here.  I got my first ButcherBox in September when the average high temperature was still a bit over 100 degrees.  I was concerned that the meat might thaw before it got to me, but I didn’t need to worry.  The meat came in cardboard box with insulating material inside around the styrofoam cooler.  Inside the styrofoam cooler, the meat was in the insulated tote, and there was still dry ice inside!  That never happens here as it usually all evaporates before I get my delivery.  The meat was still frozen solid.  I was so impressed!

ButcherBox also occasionally runs sales.  For instance, on Black Friday, they sold bacon for $5 a package, so I made sure to stock up.

In addition, they have two boxes available.  One is the typical size, which I got as illustrated above, or you can choose to double the size.  If you double the size, you’ll get a $20 discount.

If you’d like to try ButcherBox, use my affiliate link and receive a free package of bacon and $10 off your order!

I’m happy to add ButcherBox to my list of go-to companies to buy quality meat.

Disclosure: I received one ButcherBox in exchange for this review.  All opinions are my own.  I bought the other ButcherBox myself and will continue to buy this quality product!
