Congrats to the winner, Shea!
Since going gluten free, we’ve found several recipes that taste just as good as we remember their gluten counterparts tasting. However, we are also stuck in a rut by eating the same recipes over and over again.
We received a copy of Bob’s Red Mill Everyday Gluten-Free Cookbook by Camilla V. Saulsbury, and we found lots of yummy new recipes to try! (There are 281 recipes in the book, so there are plenty to choose from.)
Saulsbury has written several cookbooks and has also won The Food Network’s $25,000 Ultimate Recipe Showdown, so I was happy to try another book she had authored.
About the Cookbook
There are several things I love about this cookbook:
- There are several pages of glossy color photos sprinkled throughout the book,
- There are a variety of grains used like quinoa, amaranth, sorghum, and teff,
- There are recipes to suit a variety of eating styles from vegetarian to Paleo and everything in between,
- There is a primer at the front of the book for gluten-free grains.
Whether you’re new to gluten-free living or you just want to branch out and try some new grains or some different recipes, this book is for you.
Breakfast is an area where we really tend to get in a rut, so we tried a few of the breakfast recipes including Baked Banana Berry Oatmeal and Coconut Custard with Chia and Mango. Yum! Robert Rose has shared another recipe online, if you’d like to try it out: Fluffy Lemon Chia Seed Pancakes.
I should point out that while we are dairy-free, the cookbook is not. However, we could easily substitute out most dairy ingredients for ones we could eat. The only recipes we had to skip were the ones that had foods like cottage cheese or corn (which we also can’t eat.)
