I had the pleasure of attending the Nourish Food Blogger Conference last Friday. Nourished is a food blogging conference that caters to those who are gluten free or have other food sensitivities. Since my list of intolerances has grown from dairy and soy to also include peanut butter, oats, and safflower oil, I thought it would be worthwhile to attend.
I did not know what to expect from this conference, but since it was literally less than a half hour drive from my house, I decided I should go, and I am so glad that I did.
The highlight of the conference for me was Food Photography Made Simple with Cara Lyons of Cara’s Cravings. After I attended the session, I was much more aware of how my blog photos look. I never really gave them much thought; I simple took a picture of the food before we ate. 🙂 Now I know that is not the best strategy. I learned about light boxes, reflection, where to aim the light and how to use a DSL camera. (Not that I have one, but now I want one.) I will be working on my pictures here, but on a frugal budget, so bear with me because the learning curve for me is steep.
While these two sessions were the highlight of the conference for me, there was plenty of other good, valuable information. In fact, I enjoyed the conference so much that I am considering attending next fall, even though the conference will be far from my home in Dallas, TX.
