In 1989, pastor Don Piper was driving home from a conference when he was struck by an oncoming semi. When the EMTs arrived, they pronounced him dead and began working with the two other drivers who were struck from behind when the semi driver went back into his own lane.
Don Piper, a 38 year old father of three, was dead for 90 minutes. During that time, he had a life-after-death experience. He even got as far as the gates of Heaven when he was pulled back to life, only to face a several years’ long recovery and endless physical agony.
Piper prayed every day to die because he wanted to be back in Heaven. He struggled with depression and the extreme physical limitations of his condition.
It was a full 18 months after the accident before he finally told a close friend that he had been to Heaven. Before that, he had kept his experience completely to himself. However, when he began to share his experience, he also began his full recovery and discovered his purpose in life.
This book, first written 10 years ago, is now reprinted in the movie version. That’s right, on September 11, 2015, 90 Minutes in Heaven will be released in theaters. Rated PG-13, this movie stars Hayden Christiansen and Kate Bosworth. I have seen the opening clip of the movie, and I’m excited to see the entire film!
If you want a sneak peak of the film, check out the official trailer.
Another exciting feature is that this movie is produced by Giving Films, and the profits from the ticket sales will go to charity:

Beginning with their first film, 90 Minutes In Heaven, Giving Films is allowing all of us to be a part of making a difference. This looks like a good read…I’ve heard a lot about it.
My Mom just passed away in July from Alzheimer’s. I was there as she slipped away and wondered what her eyes saw, the minute she arrived at the gate. As hard as it was to let her go, I could only imagine the joy she was experiencing.
I read this book a long time ago when I saw it at the local library. I would love to have my own copy, and read it again, now that my Mom is there. Thank you for hosting the giveaway.
I read the synopsis and it sounds like a wonderful book. Thank you for the chance!

I never buy these kinds of books. I haven’t checked out his facts – and frankly, I have a good bit of healthy skepticism. There have been a rather large amount of “celestial visit” books written over time. Still, I’d like to read it to see if the author can convince me…
