2014-financial-personal-work-goalsLife is so hectic around here, I forgot to post an update of goals for March.  Ooops!  So here’s how we’ve done on our goals for March and April:

  • Pay at least $2,000 off the principal of my husband’s student loans.  In progress.  We paid $237 on principal total for the last two months.  Since the beginning of 2014, total we’ve paid $725 in principal, so we’re about 36% of the way there!
  • Save $5,000 in a fund for a new car  No progress.
  • Increase our emergency fund to 3 month’s worth of living expenses.  In progress.  We have one month saved right now.  (This is a very aggressive goal that I’m not sure we’ll reach, but I want to stretch with this one.)
  • Complete our wills.  COMPLETED.
  • Apply for another life insurance policy  (This also needs to be done in the early part of the year since it was not accomplished from last year’s goals.)  No progress.

  • Read 52 books this year.  In progress.  I’ve got to get going on this goal!  In March and April, I only read 3 books, soI’ve read 12 books so far this year.
  • Watch 24 movies this year.  In progress.  We watched one movie in April, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  I loved the book and the film.  So far this year, we’ve watched three films (and endless episodes of Law and Order: SVU & How I Met Your Mother).
  • Give up added sugar permanently.  In progress.  I’ve not had added sugar for about a month now.  For the last 8 days, I’ve been on a very strict diet to kill off my internal candida.  I’m only eating non-starchy veggies, meat and eggs.  This is really killing me.  I miss my sweet potatoes and fruit, but I’m determined to take care of this yeast problem once and for all!
  • Exercise at least 3 times a week.  No progress.   I’ve just been a big slug lately.
  • Continue to follow my Paloe diet and heal my leaky gut.  In progress.
  • Begin to learn Japanese as Bookworm is studying it.  No progress.  Since we went to Arlington, VA in March, we haven’t been studying Japanese.  Now I just want Bookworm to finish his 4th grade work, so this may take a back seat until we’re on summer break.

  • Add Pinterest friendly pictures to my top 50 blog posts.  No progress.
  • Fix dead links in old posts  No progress.
  • Comment on 10 blogs a week  No progress.
  • Post at least 5 days a week  In progress.  The last few weeks I was only posting 3 to 4 times a week, so this one is half accomplished for March and April.
  • Try at least one new recipe a week and blog about it.  No progress.  My current, very boring diet doesn’t lend itself to trying many new recipes.
  • Create an editorial calendar each month and follow it.  No progress.

I’m making progress on my goals, but I’ll have to step it up if I want to accomplish all of them by the end of 2014!
