100_3968I set some lofty goals this year that, in all honesty, I am not sure that we can accomplish. However, I like to set the bar high because even if I don’t accomplish ALL of the goals, at least I have achieved more than if I had not stretched myself. Also, these goals can’t be completed in a month or two.  Most of them will require all of 2013 to complete.

Here is how we did meeting our goals in October.

Financial

Pay off my student loan:  On target.  The current balance is approximately $996.65, so we paid off $186.78 in September.  I’m half tempted to pull money out of savings just to pay this thing off and be free of the monthly payment, but I haven’t decided on that yet.

Reduce our credit card balance to $5,000 :  Accomplished!  We actually completely paid off our credit card balance.

Maintain an emergency fund of $3,000:  Accomplished this month.  We actually added a bit more to our emergency fund, so it is now at $3,700.

Complete our wills:  No progress.  We’ve decided to do this ourselves until we are in a financially stronger position.  Time to make this a priority as the end of the year is only 7.5 weeks away!

Apply for another life insurance policy.  No progress.  This, too, must become a priority.

Make several necessary car repairs (to the tune of $2,000 or so dollars):  Accomplished.  All car repairs are done.

Personal

 

Read 24 books this year.  Accomplished.  I read one book, ‘Til We Meet Again, in October, bringing my total to 26.  This goal is accomplished!

Watch 24 movies this year. Accomplished.  We watched two movies this month, No Place on Earth and Escape Fire, bringing our total to 26 for the year. This goal is accomplished.

Lose 20% of my current body weight:  On target.  I had a backslide on this one during the summer, but now I’m back on track and have lost 13% of my body weight since January.  This goal is 65% accomplished.

Exercise at least 3 times a week:  No progress.  I stopped exercising once my son finished school and we weren’t walking to school anymore.  I have to find a place to fit in exercise.

Continue to follow my diet and heal my leaky gut.  On target.  My food intolerances have dropped from an all time high of 57 to 35.

Work

Check e-mail no more than 4 times a day:  On target.  I didn’t think I’d be able to do this one, but now I’m so busy homeschooling that I don’t have time to check e-mail all the time like I used to.

Treat my blog like a business:  No progress.  I was doing good on this during the summer, but now, not so much.  I still have to work on tweaking my schedule so I have more time for my blog.

Stick to a regular blog schedule:  On target–sort of.  My regular routine slipped during the summer.  I’m working on reestablishing it. Do you set goals?  If so, how are you doing on yours?
