My Goals for 2019: Week 5 of 52

I am smashing out my goal to earn 10% more this year.  In fact, if my workload continues as it is now, I will earn well over 10% more this year.  Woot woot!

However, that means that to find the time, a lot of my other goals are falling by the wayside.

But I’m not giving up on these goals.  I think this is just like that famous analogy about trying to fit the big rocks into a jar along with the little rocks and the sand.  I can do this, I just need to figure out how.

This week I started looking into block scheduling and experimenting with it.  I think that may help a lot, but I haven’t had time to finish the block schedule.  Ha ha!

HOMESCHOOL

Use the Barton reading program with one of my dyslexic children 4x a week for at least 45 weeks. 

DONE!  We were on track to once again just get 3 sessions in, so I decided that the last two sessions would be 45 minutes each instead of 30 minutes.  So, yeah, I didn’t get in 4 sessions, but I got in 2 hours this week, which is what I wanted to accomplish with 4 sessions.

HEALTH

Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day six days a week.

Nope.

Eat only food made at home with the exception of three times a week.

DONE.  Joining Weight Watchers has definitely helped with this!

Practice meditation 4x a week.

Nope, not once, unfortunately.

Learn to eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full.

DONE.  For the first time in months, my stomach has actually been growling, and I wake up hungry.

Eat at least 6 fruits and veggies a day.

DONE.  Oh, and as a bonus, my sweet consumption has been reduced dramatically.

BUSINESS

Blog 3x a week for at least 45 weeks of the year.

HOBBIES

Read at least 30 minutes a day.

FAITH

Read at least 6 religious/spiritual books. 

I’ve picked my first book of the six and have started reading Saint John Paul the Great: His Five Loves by Jason Evert.

Read the Bible in a year.

I actually didn’t do this at all this week.  I found that early in the morning, I just wanted to get to work, and I was resenting spending 20 minutes of prime time, so to speak, reading the Bible.  I definitely didn’t want to read the Bible filled with resentment, so I let it go for this week.  I have to find a place to schedule this in my down time when I don’t want to do my work, but not  when I’m so tired I can’t focus.

NEW GOALS

Raise $1,000 for a trip to Michigan

We didn’t add any money to the Michigan fund this week because my husband, who runs early in the morning in the dark, tripped over something, smashed up his knuckle good, and completely decimated his phone.  He couldn’t even see the screen, so all of our extra money went to buy him a new phone.

Write one thing I’m grateful for a day

No, but I definitely need to get this into my block schedule.

  1. Great work with eating at home and increasing your veggie intake! Where on your calendar can you add two ten minute walks a few times this week?
