4 Weeks to a More Productive Life: Week 1

So, for most of this year, I’ve felt like a freight train has run me over, but as I mentioned in my November goals, little by little I’m beginning to feel more like myself and able to tackle more projects.  Things may not be running smoothly at home, but they are improving with ABA, so I feel like I can begin to get more involved in life again.

Recently, I joined 4 Weeks to a More Productive Life, a course by Crystal Paine.  I listened to week 1 this weekend, which is all about establishing a good morning routine.  This week’s content was perfect for me because the only time I can absolutely get things done is early in the morning before the kids get up.  After that, who knows how the day will go.

Crystal recommends deciding what big rocks you want to tackle in the morning, and I have several big rocks I’d like to find room in my life for before the kids get up:

  1. Exercise for 15 minutes (I’m thinking doing yoga for now)
  2. Pray for at least 10 minutes
  3. Write one freelance post or do VA work or my own blog work for at least 30 minutes

That means, I have to get up at least one hour before my kids, but wait!  I am NOT a get-up-and-get-going kind of person in the morning.  I need about 15 minutes to wake up slowly, usually by checking the blogs I like and social media.  So, I need about one hour and 15 minutes in the morning.

My kids are up by 6 a.m., so I’ll need to start getting up by 4:45.  My husband is up at 4:30 to exercise, so I think I’ll just start getting up with him.

To get my 8 hours of sleep a night, I should go to bed at 8:30, which won’t happen.  I’ll shoot for 9:30 every evening.

So, that is my plan for week 1 of a more productive life.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

Have you taken the course 4 Weeks to a More Productive Life?  If so, what did you think?  Did it help you improve your productivity?
