Menu Planning for September 8, 2018

Do you want to know a secret?  I don’t usually stick to my menu plan perfectly.  I write down the meals I’m planning to make, but I don’t always make them on the day I had planned to make them.  Sometimes, I don’t make them at all because plans change at the last minute.  Take last week, I was supposed to make French toast, eggs, and sausage links, but I didn’t have any sausage, so I substituted out bacon.  When my kids saw the bacon, they decided they wanted BLTs, not French toast, so that’s what we had.  We used most of the same ingredients, but we had a completely different meal than I had planned.

I usually end up sticking with my menu plan about 70% of the time, though, so I still find it worthwhile to menu plan.  Plus, if I don’t have a menu plan in place, I’m not very creative so we end up either eating the same thing over and over again (which my family hates), or we end up eating easy food that isn’t that healthy.

Saturday

Lunch: Daiya macaroni and cheese & Brussel sprouts & grapes

Dinner: Chalupa Salad (from My FreezEasy)

Sunday

Lunch: Salmon, broccoli, sweet potato cubes

Dinner: Paleo/Whole 30 Beef Stew (didn’t make this last week)

Monday

Hamburgers on the grill, veggies & fruit, french fries

Tuesday

Leftover Taco Pie, fruit

Wednesday

One Pot Creamy Chicken and Rice, salad

Thursday

Polish Sausage and Cabbage with brown rice

Friday

Chili Mac (from My FreezEasy)
