Homeschool Crew Review: Magic Stix Washable Markers (and a Giveaway!)

Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure to review many products by The Pencil Grip, Inc.  While we’ve enjoyed all of these products, Cuddle Bug, my resident doodler and artist, absolutely loves the 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers.

Magic Stix Washable Markers

About The Pencil Grip, Inc.

The Pencil Grip, Inc. was created in 1992 by Dr. Lois Provda, a prominent educational therapist.  The company offers  a variety of products including Magic Stix Washable Markers, Thin Stix, Kwik Stix, pencil grips, and many other products including therapeutic devices.

About Magic Stix Washable Markers

The 24 pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers comes in a sturdy plastic case with a handle, which makes it easy for small hands to move them around.  There are also a wide variety of colors, including multiple shades of frequently used colors like blue, green, yellow, and brown.

They are guaranteed not to dry out even if the cap is left off for 7 days!  (Read some of the other Crew members’ reviews; they documented leaving the cap off and showing how the marker did not dry out.  Impressive!)

The markers are also unscented, which I greatly appreciated.

Finally, they are thicker on the outside so little hands can more easily grasp them.

How We Used Magic Stix Washable Markers

Simply put, there wasn’t one day during this review period when the Magic Stix weren’t being used.

My kids love them!  They used them for coloring pictures, doing school projects, creating items for their American Girl dolls–you name it, they used Magic Stix!

Our Thoughts on Magic Stix Washable Markers

Overall, we loved these!  Both girls are still using these, and even Bookworm (13) used them sometimes.  I cannot tell you how much I love that they do not dry out!  Cuddle Bug routinely leaves the lids off the markers, and now I don’t have to worry about the marker being ruined because of this.

In addition, the tip size is right in between thick and thin; it was versatile enough for most coloring and art projects that my kids did.

Oh, did I mention that for someone sensitive to smells like I am, I love that they are unscented.

The only drawback we had was a minor one that most people likely won’t have.  Cuddle Bug does truly think that everything–including her skin–is her canvas.  She routinely draws pictures on herself.  With other washable markers, I just needed to take a washcloth with soap on those spots, scrub a bit, and they came out.  This was not the case with Magic Stix Washable Markers.  I really had to scrub, and usually, I could only get the markers completely off her skin when she soaked in the tub.  If you don’t have a child who colors on herself like mine does, this shouldn’t be an issue.
