Goals for 2018: Week 5 of 52

Whew, this week knocked me on my behind!  I had a lot of dental appointments.  Ten years ago I had a root canal by my regular dentist, but he could only complete about 2/3rds of it because he said the roots were calcified.  He said if I was lucky, it wouldn’t bother me again.

Apparently, I’m not lucky.  🙂

The tooth started bugging me in November, and at the end of January, my new regular dentist took x-rays and found a pocket of infection on the side where the root still was.  He referred me to an endodontist I’ve used once before who told me the root canal was so botched that he didn’t think he could fix it.  He said he could try to finish the root canal, but he wasn’t hopeful he could save the tooth.  Oh, and for extra fun?  He said the dentist who had done the root canal also broke off a tool and that it’s been cemented in all these years.

Long story short, after many dental appointments last week, I’m slated to get my tooth pulled this week and to receive a bone graft.  Later in the year, I’ll start the process of getting an implant.

All that to let you know that I didn’t get quite as much done on my January goals or my added new goal this week.

Make Time to Relax

Read a book a week.  I finished Is Your Child a Money Master or a Money Monster, and I’m about 2/3rds through The Empowered by Craig Parshall.

Write. I didn’t write in my journal last week.

I noticed that I’m slacking on this goal, so I’m going to put special attention on it next week.

Care for Myself

Exercise.  No exercise this week.

Manage my sugar cravings. Duh, duh, duh, dum.  I accept it.  I have to give up sugar.  I think I’ll start doing that for Lent and just keep it going after Easter.

Create a Manageable Schedule for Myself

Last week went more smoothly with less complaining from the kids.  I think they’re adjusting.  Also, I used what I learned in Is Your Child a Money Master or a Money Master to create a new chore chart for my kids.  This week will be the first week we implement it.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

Re-establish My Prayer Routine

I said my morning prayers every day this week.  I’m also saying my basic night prayers.  I’ve decided that for Lent I’ll add a rosary every night.

Make $25 a Month on Swagbucks

I think I might have been overly ambitious with this goal.  I started at 214 Swagbucks, and now I’m at 503, so I have earned 289 Swagbucks in the last two weeks.  I’m excited by the progress,  but I’m going to have to spend more time on this to get the 2,200 I need to get a $25 Amazon gift card.

  1. Yikes – your tooth! I’m glad to hear you didn’t have more of an issue considering the mess the first dentist made. New week, new focus – let’s get some minutes of movement in and skip the sugar. You can do this!!
