Goals for 2018: Week 3 of 52

Although I have many things I want to accomplish this year, I’m taking the goals slowly, month by month.  My January goals are all about taking care of myself.

Let me tell you, I’m loving this set up for my goals!!!  Even when things get kind of crazy around here, like they were some days, I am still able to get these goals done, in part because they’re smaller.  I’m even ready to add on a new goal.

Make Time to Relax

Read a book a week.  I finished all of the books I had been reading over the last two weeks, so this week I dived into Lucky Boy, and I am loving it!  I don’t even think I’ll start another book.  I just want to read, and read, and read this one.  It’s so good so far!

Write. I didn’t write in my journal last week.

Care for Myself

Although losing weight was not one of my explicit goals, I did join Weight Watchers.

My mom left last Sunday, and let me tell you, I started to stress eat all.the.sweets!  Even though I had gone for a weigh in on Thursday before she left, I went to a meeting on Monday, a day after she left, just to stop the crazy-stress-food-eating train.  I did gain .4 pounds, but I was really proud that I got to a meeting right away and stopped the insanity.  I’m doing better now, so I plan to see a weight loss when I go to my meeting on Thursday.

Exercise.  I walked twice last week, for 15 minutes each time.  Since my original goal was just to exercise 2x a week, I’m going to stick with that for now and keep adding in time until I’m up to 25 or 30 minutes each session.

Manage my sugar cravings. I’m not cutting out sweets completely, but I have come to realize that I can’t have them in the house or I will eat them all.  Sad but true.

Create a Manageable Schedule for Myself

Overall, I like our schedule.  Bookworm is doing more work than he has been doing for a year, and I have time to get in the girls’ work, too.  Each day last week, we added in a new subject.  In another week or so, I think we should be doing all of the subjects I want to cover.

Re-establish My Prayer Routine

I said my morning prayers every day this week except once.  I’m also saying my basic night prayers.  I’d like to add on a rosary every evening, but I want to wait a few weeks for that so I can make sure the morning prayer routine is solidified.

These are my initial goals for 2018.  How are you doing on your goals?  I’d love it if you’d share in the comments!

  1. Awesome exercise! Keep it up. Can’t find 30′ in a row? Two 15′ chunks or three 10′ sessions are just as beneficial. And keep fighting the sugar monster – it will get better. The more sugar you eat, the more you crave so if you can give it up, you will not crave it. I promise. And keep exercising – wooo hooo!!
