Grocery Report, October 26 – 31, 2017

So, October wound up being a doozy on the grocery shopping front.  I kind of hate to share here how much we spent.  The good news is that I have a plan to reduce our grocery costs in November.  (So far, it’s working!  More on that in Thursday’s grocery report.)

The other piece of good news is that we’re stocking up on items at a low price like our 30+ packages of bacon bought at $2.99 a package and our 50 pound bag of oats.  Okay, here’s the damage.

Just a Few Facts About Us

Our family of 5 chooses to eat mostly organic produce and grass-fed and pasture-raised meats.  I’m Paleo, my daughter is semi-Paleo, and the rest of us are gluten free.  Everyone except my husband is dairy free.  Our goal for the last few months of the year is to spend on average $750 per month on groceries.

Here’s what we bought over the last two weeks:

Natural Grocers – $99.66

See all of the bacon goodness?  I’m hoping this bacon will last us for the next 12 months.  At $2.99 a package, I had to stock up.  However, they reminded me that future orders will have a limit of 3 packages.  Oops.

Sprout’s – $22.96

Sprout’s & Natural Grocers – $82.89

Sprout’s had their grassfed beef on sale, so I got several packages, which will hopefully be enough to last us through November.

TOTAL: $205.51

Total for October: $1,180.05

TOTAL for September: $1,022.29

Total for August: $668.85

Average for 3 months:  $957.06
