A Fun Christmas Movie: The Star

I am always looking for wholesome movies that I can take my whole gang to; considering they range in age from 13 to 7, that can be tough.  So, I’m excited about the new movie, The Star, which tells the story of the Nativity from the animals’ perspective.  This looks like a funny, yet meaningful movie, and we can’t wait to go!

To give you more details about this movie, the studio release states:

In Sony Pictures Animation’s The Star, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.

The Star opens this Friday, November 17th.  Just a bit of trivia, I heard in my homeschool group, that the director of the movie was raised in Tucson and his parents still live here.

This movie is brought to you by the same studio that made Miracles from Heaven and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which were both movies we enjoyed.  It also has an all star cast including Steven Yeun, Keegan-Michael Key, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Tracy Morgan, and Patricia Heaton, just to name a few.

The music promises to be impressive with such musical talent as Mariah Carey, Fifth Harmony, and A Great Big World, among others.

If you’d like to do more with your little ones besides just watching the movie, The Star website has plenty of activities including coloring pages, printable dioramas, mazes, connect the dots, and many others.
