Grocery Report for August 16-22, 2017

So, thanks to many, many medical bills, our budget is T-I-G-H-T!  Even though we have previously given ourselves $780 – $1,050 for groceries each month, I’m on a mission to not spend more than $750 a month.  My husband is sure that I cannot do it.  I’m up for the challenge.

This month is even more difficult because I want to set aside some of our grocery money this month for the 1/4 side of beef we like to buy 2x a year.  The next opportunity to buy is in October, and I’ll need about $600 for the purchase.

To see the meals we made with these groceries, go here.

Just a Few Facts About Us

Our family of 5 chooses to eat mostly organic produce and grass-fed and pasture-raised meats.  I’m Paleo, my daughter is semi-Paleo, and the rest of us are gluten free.  Everyone except my husband is dairy free. We were intolerant to beans, but I’m gradually reintroducing them to see how our family does.

Here’s what we bought this week:

U.S. Wellness Meats – $83.46

I have yet to source a clean source of pork locally except for the farm we bought from before, but they don’t currently have any pigs ready for processing.  So, I turned to U.S. Wellness Meats and used their 15% off discount code.

Sprout’s & Trader Joe’s – $40.07

Sprout’s, Safeway & Natural Grocers – $40.34

Costco – $0

I used my Costco rebate check to buy these items, so they cost me nothing out of pocket.  Yay!

Note to self–bringing along an always hungry teenage boy is not good for the budget.  The lunchmeat and the Paleo bars are his contributions to the cart!

Trader Joe’s & Natural Grocers – $13.36

TOTAL for this week: $177.23

TOTAL for the month: $536.19
