Missy Mila’s Twisted Tales, Volume 1: A Review and Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

My kids and I recently got the opportunity to review Missy Mila: Twisted Tales, Volume 1, and we all enjoyed it.  Missy Mila is an adventurous, energetic eight year old girl who brings her own fresh spin to traditional stories.  For instance, in the story “Elvis”, Elvis is a donkey who gets turned into a human by a princess.  Then he becomes the rock star we know.

In the episode, “The Houses of the Pig Brothers” (a take on the Three Little Pigs), there is no big, bad wolf out to cause harm.  Instead, there is a bull who takes the place of the big, bad wolf.  The three pigs build their houses on the bull’s land, so the bull knocks over the houses made of straw and wood.  Then he tries to break the brick house, but he gets a headache from the effort.  Eventually he gives up and goes down the chimney, but he gets stuck.  The pigs tickle his feet until he agrees not to attack them.  Then the pigs and the bull are friends.

My kids are 3.5, 5, and 9, and all three of them enjoyed this DVD even though the recommended viewing age is 5 to 8.  My oldest loved that Missy Mila talked directly to the camera as if she was speaking directly to the viewers.  This was a great way to engage the kids.

The stories were short, but fun and the DVD contained 13 episodes.  At 101 minutes long, it entertained my kids for quite some time.

If you’re looking for a wholesome, energy packed DVD for your kids, this may be just the product!
