UPDATE: The winner is Shecki. Congratulations! The kids used to snack on things like Veggie Straws at least once a day. However, now that three of us have a sunflower intolerance, finding snacks is not as easy because everything seems to have sunflower oil in it.
Recently I was given the opportunity to try Super Seedz by Kathie’s Kitchen, which turned out to be a perfect treat for our snack fix.
Super Seedz offer 8 different flavors of gourmet, shelled, pumpkin seed goodness:
- Really Naked (unsalted)
- Sea Salt
- Sugar and Cinnamon
- Coco Joe
- Tomato Italiano
- Original Curry
- Somewhat Spicy
- Super Spicy
The Super Seedz company was started by Kathie Pelliccio, a mom of 5. When she made curry pumpkin seeds for her salads and sugar and cinnamon seeds for a compliment to her breakfast meal, she noticed that her family would devour them. After selling them locally, she created her own business, and Super Seedz was born.
And wow, am I glad!
Our family was given an 8 pack of the seeds to try, and there wasn’t one flavor we didn’t like. My favorite was the Sugar and Cinnamon. At only 2 grams of sugar per 1/3 cup serving, these seeds offer a hint of sweetness but don’t hurt your health with the small bit of sugar. Even better, there are 9 grams of protein per serving! Honestly, these were so good I ate them for dessert after my meal. Yum-o!
Likewise, the Coco Joe seeds are so delicious! They taste like chocolate covered almonds, but they’re not overwhelmingly sweet like milk chocolate can be.
Both the Sugar and Cinnamon as well as Coco Joe are delicious by themselves, but they’d also be a welcome addition to yogurt or oatmeal.
My husband was fond of the spicy and curry seeds and found them to be a perfect compliment to an evening beer. Even Bookworm, who normally can’t handle spicy foods, enjoyed the Somewhat Spicy seeds.
If you love spicy foods, you’ll appreciate the Super Spicy seeds. My husband can handle most spicy foods, and he found these to be strong (though tasty) with a hint of garlic flavor. The burn from the seeds stayed with him for awhile.
What Makes Super Seedz the Perfect Health Foods?
What I personally loved about Super Seedz is that unlike most snacks on the market, there are no artificial flavors or strange ingredients. For instance, the Really Naked seeds only have one ingredient–shelled pumpkin seeds. The Sugar and Cinnamon only had four ingredients–shelled pumpkin seeds, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. I love that there are no mystery ingredients!
In addition, for families like ours that struggle with food intolerances (or allergies), Super Seedz are gluten free, tree nut free, peanut free, dairy free, MSG free, vegan, and soy free.
We’re already planning to buy some more Super Seedz for our road trip to Atlanta in December. Best of all, they are sold at many convenient locations including Whole Foods, Amazon, and a host of regional stores. If you don’t have a store nearby that carries them, you can always order them online through the website.
One lucky winner will receive all 8 flavors of Super Seedz. To enter, simply Like Super Seedz on Facebook.
