Today Is My Birthday. Could You Do Me a Favor?

Today is my birthday, so I hope you don’t mind if I ask a favor of you.

Mom’s Plans the blog also just recently celebrated (albeit quietly), its third birthday. ย I have been blogging and sharing our story for three years now (unreal!), and I would love to know what brings you here.

What do you enjoy most about reading Mom’s Plans? ย  It could be the recipes or the debt snowflaking series, or something completely different. ย I just want to hear from you, the reader, today on my birthday.

If you could leave a comment telling me in specific terms what you like most about this blog and how long you have been reading it, you would make this birthday girl very happy.

If there is a topic you would like me to write about more or start writing about, I would like to hear about that too.

Thank you!

Now I am going to go spend the day with my family.

I’ll be back on Sunday night, another year older.

I like your honesty about finances, the dairy free recipes and other recipes too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Birthday!

  2. Happy birthday to you – and the blog! In my house, the tradition is cake for breakfast – give it a try, it sets a celebratory mood for the day! ๐Ÿ™‚

I enjoy your blog and really like hearing about your financial progress. So motivating for whatever struggles one has; financial, weight loss, the info. is applicable to any goal. Keep it up and enjoy your day!

    • Melissa says:

Love the idea of cake for breakfast! Too late to do that today, but maybe for the kids’ birthdays.

  3. Amy Owen says:

I love your personal stories – like about your failed e-bay business. It encourages me to hear them. I enjoy all the stories about “finding” money to debt snowflake. I also like the food waste pictures. Also what you pack in lunch boxes. I started reading your blog last year and really enjoy it. Happy birthday!

  4. Happy Happy Birthday! I hope you have a fabulous day! I LOVE your honesty and transparency in your family finances and how you are attacking your debt. I also love your menu sharing and stories/pics about grocery store shopping. My favorite blogs are the personal ones like yours. Keep up the great work!

  5. Not sure when I found you but so happy that I did. I love the debt snowflaking series (always encouraging) and the tips about shopping for groceries. Happy Birthday and have a blessed day. Also we have started trying some of the dairy free things on here and yum. Even getting my picky eater to have them. Thanks for taking time out of your day to let us share yours.

  6. Happy Birthday!

I love the snowflaking series. It shows how small amounts can really make a difference.

  7. I have been following your blog for several months now. I love your meal planning and recipes. I love that you strive to provide healthy meals. I love getting to know your family as it gives me encouragement as I try to raise mine!

  8. Happy Birthday!!!

I like reading about your food menus, budgeting, and making your dollars stretch! (Just about everything you presently blog about!!)

  9. Happy Birthday! I hope it’s your best one yet :-). I really love your honestly about life. I really love to see the progress your family is making to be healthier all around, with food as well as financially. Your blog feel really real, a lot of other blogs I read only tell of the good things, or funny things, but they don’t tell of the everyday struggles it takes to raise a family and sacrifices it takes to get out of debt. I really appreciate that you show both sides of the coin, the good and the bad, and I LOVE reading about the success you are having! Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I like anything about your debt reduction. That is very inspiring! To be honest, I don’t care for recipes as much because there is so much of that in Blogland. (Although I do like seeing your menus posted.) Happy Birthday!

  11. Abigail's Mommy says:

I love your budgets, snowflake reports, personal stories, grocery trips and saving money tips. Really I love everything you post. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Happy Birthday Melissa. Hope you had a great day. Absolutely love your site, visit it everyday, especially the debt snow flaking series. Your stories inspire me to implement your money saving tips/tricks, especially on organic produce. Have a great day.

  13. I found you when I was googling how moms can afford immersion language classes for kids when on a strict budget. For me, too, this is a priority and an investment worth sacrificing for. I’ve returned time after time to watch how you’re tackling debt (I love Dave Ramsey too!) and am cheering you on. I too am about to leave full-time employment for the privilege of being a SAHM, and while it’s a risky endeavor, I’ve planned for it and am convinced it’s totally worth it.

Overall, I believe in your life choices and want to see you succeed. : )

    • Melissa says:

I am happy to hear you’ll be able to be a SAHM soon. What language are your kids learning?

      • Melinda says:

Our kiddo is being raised with English/Spanish. His grandmother watches him when I’m working, so that keeps him immersed in Spanish all day, so it’s currently his stronger language. When he’s old enough to go to school, I want him to keep that momentum and gain bi-literacy as well. Good news, though. A dual immersion public charter school just opened up 5 minutes from our house!

  14. I mainly read for OAMC inspiration. But you have lots of great stuff on here.

  15. Happy belated birthday! I like to read little tips and tricks you mention when talking about snowflaking. Love lots of the blog!!!

  16. Happy belated birthday! I haven’t been coming to read each day lately but I come to read about your getting-out-of-debt stories, tips on tracking the money, and food ideas for healthy living. Researching CSA’s now ๐Ÿ˜‰
