A few months ago, my family visited Chili’s for the first time in years, and we so enjoyed the experience we have been back a few times. Chili’s food is tasty, and they offer great deals for families trying to dine out on a budget. Recently Chili’s sent us a $20 gift card, and we stretched that by dining out last night when up to two kid’s meals were free with the purchase of one adult entree. (I wrote about that deal here.)
My son ordered the kid’s cheese quesadilla meal and liked how cheesy the quesadilla was. However, he would have liked it to be a little more substanital with chicken or veggies in the quesadilla. He ordered broccoli and carrots on the side; the broccoli was tender enough for him without being mushy and the carrots were cut into small strips perfect for kids.
My daughter ordered the macaroni and cheese and fresh pineapple. I love that Chili’s has several healthy side alternatives for kids. The pineapple was cold and sweet; both my kids liked it. Of course, they loved the macaroni and cheese.
For an appetizer we ordered onion straws with jalapenos and ranch dressing. The onion straws were tasty but a bit greasy for us. My husband liked the spicy taste of black pepper in the batter and jalapenos mixed throughout. We would have liked it better if they were a bit crispier.
My husband enjoyed a half rack of ribs with honey chipotle sauce and fries on the side. The meat was tender and flavorful.The ribs had a tangy sweet taste which he enjoyed. Chili’s was not skimpy on the fries! There were plenty there to share.
With my dairy intolerance, dining out can sometimes be difficult. However, before our visit, I went to Chili’s website and was impressed that they had a list of common allergens and what items are safe to eat. I am disappointed that I can’t eat their fries (there must be whey or some other dairy ingredient on them), but I love that they accommodate people with food intolerances or allergies. I ordered a bacon burger without the bun and fresh broccoli and carrots without the seasoning. Both were delicious.
Our waitress was very nice and interacted with our three kids. The manager also came over to see how we were doing. Because we were taking advantage of the kids’ free meals, we couldn’t order off the 2 for $20 menu. However, the appetizer and my entree and my husband’s entree are all available on the 2 for $20 menu, which is a great value. We may come back on a date night some night and take advantage of the 2 entrees and an appetizer deal for $20.

Mmmm…… We love Chili’s!!!! The chips and salsa is our favorite appitizer. Its always so hard to pick what you want for your meal cause everything is so yummy I think I would have to go with the chicken fajitas and I bet my hubby would go with the chicken crispers.

I’m a vegetarian, so I was excited to see that they *do* make some exceptions for us veggies, even tho it isn’t on the menu!
I’d take some fried cheese and the chips and salsa, and then ask for a variation on the quesadilla salad for two I think.

(Though everything looks so good, it would probably depend on what we were in the mood for on that particular night! The Classic Bacon Burger and the Baby Back Ribs both sound tempting, too…)

I’m a vegetarian, so I’ve been uncertain if Chilis was a place we could eat. I did some digging (and besides the cheese fries and yummy toasty corn chips and salsa!) it looks like they are willing to sub some things on a lot of their menu items to accommodate vegetarians.
That made me happy! I’m not sure what all that includes, but I would definitely want some sort of a burger.
